I am using Acid Pro 4 (latest release f) and am experiencing latency problems using an external midi keyboard as a controller to a Softsynth (Halion) and also when trying to use ReWire with Reason 1.01. When I play a note on the keyboard there is a slight delay before I hear the sound making it unusable to record real-time. I have a TB Santa Cruz sound card. When I use the midi sound from the Santa Cruz or the Windows Wave Table I do not experience the latecy problem. Only when I use the SoftSynth or ReWire. I have a PIII 866 with 256 M of RAM. Has anybody else experienced this problem? Any help would be appreciated. |

Does your soundcard have a "DMA buffer size"-type setting? You need to adjust this setting, especially when using a MIDI controller with soft synths. You will have to find a sweet spot; don't set it too high or too low. If possible, use the ASIO driver model as well, as it's generally better than the WDM/Windows Classic model. Is the ASIO driver for the sound card? Where would I find this? |
