Subject:recording w/mic help Posted by: billbo Date:12/28/2003 8:14:48 AM Please forgive me, this is my first time to post here. I just purchased the ACID 4.0 software package yesterday. I want to record my own music using a microphone. Now I will attempt to describe my problems. When I click on the 'record' button - it opens up another window where it says "take 1 take 2 take 3 etc etc. When I click on the record button, then I speak a few words into the mic, I then hit stop button and return to the original window where I click on the play button and there is nothing there but a very faint sound of the words I spoke. My sound card I believe is Avance AC97. Can anyone help me get started in recording? Thankx

Mixers like those from Mackie or Behringer have mic preamps built into their mic channels. (An example can be found here.) I freestyle and this works fine and you can hear everything without much distortion.

I spent two hours fiddling with everything the first time I recorded in ACID because I had the same problem....I only got a very faint signal. Once I went to the sound card properties and adjusted the volume? Voila! In WIndows: Start - > Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control -> Options -> Properties -> Recording Then make sure the MIC is selected and adjust the volume... You obviously need to be plugged into the MIC input and not the LINE IN. Good Luck! Rick
