I am new to acid. I was just wondering, is acid just for loops? I have a harware sampler and I just load it with one hit samples and create my own loops. Can you make your own loops in acid from scratch? Why is using other's loops so popular? Isn't it ripping off and making things a little too easy? I'm confused. |

Like Sin said, you can, indeed, make your own Loops from scratch in ACID. How you go about doing it is pretty much left up to the composer. In your case, you can use your hardware sampler to create one-hit samples and then create Loops from those samples by soloing the selected tracks together, setting the Loop Region over the area you'd like to bounce down and then using CTRL+M to create your new Loop. Note that ACID takes project key and tempo into account when ACIDizing your bounced down track. Be sure that, for content without a definite pitch (like percussion type loops), you set the overall project key to "none". You may also want to go into the properties of the newly bounced track and adjust/add/modify stretch markers. You'll more than likely get much better results from taking this extra step. (Note also that ACID Pro is the only version of ACID that has this feature.) Users use other's loops for many reasons, mostly because they might not have the resources available to them otherwise. Some don't have access to a bass guitar player, for example. Another reason may be simply because the loop fits the project and helps give it that extra sheen. Some people also don't realize a given sound was accomplished by mixing several loops/samples together, for example. A sudden and abrupt "KLANG!" might get help from another low-end percussive sound that helps gives it oomph. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
