does anybody know if muted tracks -- ones full of track FX -- put any drain on the CPU at all?

I'd think not, but if anyone knows for sure...

not really...there is some because its still there..just not being played.

but yeah...it does use some CPU cycles...but not as many as it would if it WASNT muted.

remember...bouncing tracks is ALWAYS a good idea....

The only drain I can think of is the amount of RAM used to put the track in the project; other than that, you should be able to mute the track without problems. (If there's no playback, I would assume there's no processing being done.)

I was under the impression that a track full of effects still caused overhead even when muted, which is one of the reasons for the popularity of Logic's freeze function or FX-freeze.
