Capture format

Does vegas allow for capturing in mpeg format on the fly. Or must I capture then convert to mpeg using the canopus plug-in?

I want to simply capture a camcorder tape without doing any editing and then just create a DVD using chapters. Something just quick and easy.

No. You capture to AVI and then convert to MPG.

Thanks for you answer. I probably purchase the stand alone main concept encoder that I believe handles mpeg capturing.

If you not planning editing then just use windows movie director.

Are you refering to Window Movie Maker. If so I don't believe that it will capture and convert to MPEG format on the fly.
