I was wondering how it would be possible to cut a CD-track (or .mp3) into different layers, i.e. separate the drumline from a song so as to remove it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope. Pretty much impossible. Once the parts are all mixed in together, they're mixed for good.
