I have Acid and I'm looking for a simple program that will allow me to apply DirectX effects to a file after I render it. Sound forge is overkill, re there any free programs that do this?

You could always put it back thru Acid as a one shot.

Will Acid mess with it (alter tempo, pitch, or anything else)?

Not unless you want to. Listen, it's not the perfect solution, but It will work for adding DX effects and you already own it. Right?

Thank you. I just did a check to make sure. I put an audio file as a one shot in Acid and made the track and master volume 0 db. Then I rendered it to a new file and did a file comparison between that one and the origional. The two files matched up exactly.

The "One-shot" track type is the only type of track that ACID will never alter/stretch. It always takes the track at face value.
