Convert 2.0 to 5.1 channels(wav file) -AC-3 Encoder

Subject:RE: Convert 2.0 to 5.1 channels(wav file) Reply by: vonhosen Date:11/9/2003 6:17:10 AM Make sure your project settings for audio in Vegas are for 5.1 Your single stereo audio track when encoded to Dolby will then be 5.1 If nothing else you will also need to duplicate that audio track, then right click on the copied tracks header & select "LFE only" (this will provide your .1 in your 5.1 while the original track will provide your 5 channels) You can keyframe the position of audio within those 5 channels in your first audio track (against the preview of video) so that audio & video match. Of course you can add extra audio channels (sound effects etc) & keyframe positioning for each of these tracks as well.

Make mono files for the left and right channels using a audio editing tool like CoolEdit. If you have low frequencies in the stereo, combine the left and right channel into one "combined" mono file. 2. Start a Surround 5.1 project in Vegas and load two left and two right mono files. These will be assiigned to LF, LR, RF and RR, repectively. Before panning, you may want to use volume and pan envelopes to give the effect you want. If you have voice or a single vocal, assigned one combined mono file to the center speaker. Adjust volume as desired. Assigned the other combined monofile to the LFE. 3. You can fiddle around with the volume envelopes. For example, I assign the stereo of the bluegrass band to the LF, RF and C speakers. When there is applause at the end of a performance, I assign only the applause to the LR and RR speakers. The base fiddle and/or guitars come through nicely on the LFE speaker. Hope this helps.
