Subject:Recording in Acid records every track

When I record my guitar through the microphone into Acid, it always records all tracks that are playing, and merges them into the new track. I want to be able to listen to the song while I am recording, but obviously I want my recording track to be separate from the rest of the song. I went into the volume settings on my computer, and made sure that the only active recording source is the microphone (that was suggested by a knowledge base article here). However, that didn't fix the probem.

I have an Advance AC 97 sound card, and it doesn't have a "What you hear" sound recording option that I can turn off (as suggested in the Knowledge Base). I use Win2K, and Acid 4.0.

Any help would be really apreciated! Thanks!

Are you using headphones? If not, are you recording in the same room that your speakers are in?

I'm using headphones. When it captures the other tracks, it's crystal clear, like it's being recorded internally.
