Subject:Where is Sound Forge within ACID?

The info I have on ACID Pro 4 says that it comes with Sound Forge (v6 I believe). Maybe this is a stupid question, but where is it? Is it integrated into ACID seamlessly, so that I don't realize when I'm using it? What tasks does SF do?

Thanks!

Rick

Hello,
If you got the bundle version of acidpro 4.0 you should have a separate Sound Forge Studio 6.0 disk that came in the box (also several loop cd's). Mine did. Hope that helps.

Kev

I don't know if it's the "bundled" version. How would I know that? Here's a link to what I got: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/B00007LLIX/all/ref=dp_pb_a/103-5712802-9335818

Thanks!

There should be a sticker on the box "Free inside AcdPro 4.0!" Inside my box came 10 disks:AcidPro 4.0, Content disk, SoundForge Studio 6, Classic 8 Packs, and additional loop libraries. If you only got a couple of disks do an "explore" on each of them and find a Sound Forge Studio 6 file. Maybe you will need to install that separately.(?) Hope this helps.

Kev

I don't know if Sony is offering the same discs with ACID Pro 4.0. I hope so! I fear that perhaps those other packages were given out under Sonic Foundry's ownership.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to see what comes in the box and take it from there.

Thanks!

I don't believe Sony (or even Sonic Foundry for that matter) were offering Sound Forge Studio 6.0 with ACID Pro 4.0. (Maybe at first when ACID Pro 4.0 was initially released but I can't remember offhand.) Those were usually package deals offered by independent vendors like Musician's Friend.

Sound Forge is a digital audio editor (for stereo and mono files). It can help you tweak any audio file you throw at it and has functions that ACID doesn't, such as being able to normalize a file. It also has tools to create ACIDized loops for use with apps such as ACID.

This URL (i.e., three paragraphs before the last screen capture) says that ACID Pro comes with Sound Forge XP: http://www.beatmode.com/sonic-foundry-acid-pro/

I thought I saw it somewhere else too.

Oh well.

Well I just did a test. I went to the Acid page and went through the PURCHASE option. There is an option to add Sound Forge Studio with Acid Pro 4.0. When I selected that and proceeded to the check out, an extra $70 was billed for Studio.
So...if it's included, it's elsewhere as a special bundle.

It must have been a limited time offer. I got my bundle @ Musician's Friend no more than three months ago. I also saw this same deal on various other websites around that time. They must have wanted to clear the inventory of the Sonic Foundry boxed products to make way for the Sony stuff.

That's ACID Pro 3.0. I was referring to ACID Pro 4.0.

It is true Sound Forge XP 5.0 came with ACID Pro 3.0, but that was a version back. Sound Forge Studio 6.0 (the latest version of the "lite" version of Sound Forge) does not come with ACID Pro 4.0. You either have to purchase it separately or be lucky enough to find a bundle that was offered some months ago like MyST mentioned.

(Musician's Friend was offering a bundle, but that was for a limited time; they now have only ACID Pro 4.0 available alone on their Web site.)
