Delta 1010 for surround???

I have a Delta 1010 that I'm thinking of using to monitor 5.1 (maybe >) surround sound projects in Vegas 4. I wondered if anyone is doing this and could share setup tips, suggestions, warnings, etc.

I also have a 6-month-old Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card that I might be able to use for this. In some ways it seems like a waste to dedicate the Delta 1010 for just monitoring surround but I don't know if the SB would work with Vegas.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I'd like to know about this topic, also .... so here's a little "Bump" on the subject...

Guess we're the only ones who want to know :-) I'm getting ready to reconfigure a couple workstations so I don't know when I'll get time to reinvent this wheel.

Any thoughts and experiences greatly appreciated.

A Delta 1010 for surround works well. All you need to do is send 6 outs to a multichannel amp and route accordingly in Vegas (how-to in the manual).

I just set this up with my 1010LT - it wasn't a major issue. Just went into Vegas preferences, clicked on the audio device tab, selected M-Delta ASIO as the output driver and specified which mappings I wanted (that is, told Vegas which channel to map to which 1010 output).

Then did a little test with creating a new project in 5.1, and verified everything worked.

The only problem I ran into was that if I launch the M-Audio Delta control panel from Vegas, when I close the panel, audio stops working in Vegas until I restart Vegas. If I launch the control panel externally (from the system tray for example), then I don't have this problem.

Thanks for all the replies. My unit is the 1010 outboard unit with PCI card. Looking forward to setting it all up and running some tests.

Thanks again.
