so i followed the suggestions about changing the audio driver to either direct sound, or asio. and changing the bit rate/sample depth to match.

both of those actually made the situation worse.
microsoft sound mapper goes the longest without the whole project getting bogged down and stuttering.

any more ideas?

if i were you i would un-install your sound card (through your device manager) and re-install the drivers. (whichever ones you want) you could end up causing problems and conflicts by installing drivers over drivers!!

Look into how your system is configured. Do you have anything running in the Systray, for example?

Try reducing or turning off video acceleration. (You may also want to try updating video drivers if possible.)

Did you try any of the suggestions at MusicXP.net?

Try updating your Audigy's drivers?
