Subject:BPM -- what gives?

1) ACID wants to BEATMAP my incoming big files. If I say "NO" does ACID just guess at the BPM, since that info always seems available if I turn a one_shot into a BEATM or a LOOP.

2) Is there any hope when Beatmap is incredibly off in it's guesses? Some of its tempos are WAY off, and I can't figure out how to change them.

3) When I preview WAV samples in Explorer, it tries to match the tempo/BPM of my current project, so the samples are drastically sped up or slowed down. I can get them to play right if I re-set my porject BPM to the sample's BPM. Is there anyway to get the samples to play in their native BPM? ...Some of my projects don't habe set tempos initially; I need to hear my samples to get inspired, and it's hard getting inspired listening to the Chipmunks.

4) Can different sections of a project/song have different BPMs? How do I go about doing this?

1. if you dont beatmap a large file, acid just inserts the sample as a one shot. (NO beatmap or key information.)

2. i found the best way to have consistent beatmappiong is to chop the song up. it is VERY TEDIOUS....but it works. chop your song into smaller parts and beatmap each file independently.

3. unfortunately, NO. (as far as i know.) the samples will play at the project tempos BPM and key (if you have one set) the only time they will not "time stretch" is if the sample is set to a "one shot"

4. yes. insert tempo markers throughout your project. ( "T" on your keyboard) you can also change time sigantures and keys at that point also.

hope this helps. ask if you got more ??'s

Adding to what marc said, for question 3, try right-clicking the WAV in question and choosing "Open with Player." This will open up the file in the associated media player (like Windows Media Player) and play the file back in its original form.
