Subject:getting a clean recording Posted by: Resoclaytion Date:11/29/2003 5:00:03 PM Whenever I record guitar or voice, the recording always picks up the other loops or whatever playing while recording. I tried opening up 2 Acids, and recording on one and pasting on the other...but i always got a "dirty" recording - it still picked up the other events playing. How do I record while listening to the events, but not putting those events on the fresh recording? Thanks for any help! ~ Clay
Subject:RE: getting a clean recording Reply by: marcarotsky Date:11/29/2003 5:44:25 PM if you are using a sound blaster card, in the utility of the sound card (the mixer or volume control in the bottom right hand corner of your machine) go to the "recording properties" you will see all your possibilites of what you can record. make sure the box is UNCHECKED under where it says, "what you hear" and check the box under your line input for your sound card. hope this helps... --marc

Now however, after i checked on the Line-in 2, what I record is very quiet - and all my nobs are turned up pretty decent. Is it normal to turn the volume to your recordings to 3.0 dB to get a good sound level when the others are playing at that same "good sound level" at negative 12 to 2 dB? ~Clay
Subject:RE: getting a clean recording Reply by: marcarotsky Date:11/29/2003 7:07:12 PM adjust your line input volume on your sound cards mixer. what are you recording into your sound card? mic? instruments? are they going through any sort of pre-amp? on my card i have my input volume on my sound card to right between the top most marker and the second to highest marker. then i adjust recording through sound forge. are you recording directly into acid or recording into an editor first? if at all possible, record into an editor first. you have more control over recording parameters. hope this helps...ask away if you got more ???'s --marc
