I was trying to render a loop section from an manipulated Absynth pad audio file I created in Acid. When deciding on a section to render as a loop, I noticed a click at the end (or beginnig?) of it when it loops around. Playing with the pad I noticed the click is less noticable if I looped one section compared to another. Is there some technique either in Acid or maybe SoundForge Studio that could make this artifact less pronounced?
Thanks in advance,
Kev

render the midi sample to a .wav, then bring it into sound forge and "fix up" your loop. thats what i would do.

yeah...just Zoom in REAL close and youll probably find that click.

insert a fade out/in ....that usually helps.

My actual sound file has no clicks, its just when I make a loop section from it. Right where the loop regions are made is where the click occurs. But really, even if I took a plain default synth sound, droned it, and try to create a loop section from that aslo, I'll get the click at where I put loop regions. It may not be noticable, on let's say a drum track, but an ambient drone it's very noticable. Is this click something that Acid just can't help doing when a signal is cut at some point and looped?

I think it's because your loop isn't starting and ending on a zero crossing. Put small fades at the beginning and end of the loop and see if it goes away.

Sckid is indeed right—if your loop doesn't end (and begin) on a zero crossing, then more than likely you'll get a glitch while looping.

You can definitely try what Sckid and Sin suggested, which should help. You can also try what marc suggested but note that the full version of Sound Forge has the Loop Tuner, an essential tool when creating custom loops.

(wow, i learn new things everyday!!!)

the Loop Tuner gives you an easy interface to find zero crossings at the start and end of your loop. you can see both points at the same time, and you can adjust their position by ever so small increments.

this is a lot more practical than say ... going back and forth making small adjustments within a selection all the time.

I basically did what Sckid said ,and at first it worked while fixing it in the sequencer window by playing with fade in/outs (vol. envel.). But when I rendered it and played that (the rendered version) back as a loop, it clicked.
I then tried rendering it again, but this time ZOOOOMING in as close as I could get, I set the loop region markers just a hair outside of the loop (w/fades) instead of right at the ends. Well it worked! Thanks for all the help !

Kev

I have found that the chopper is really easy to find zero crossings most of the time & have to do very little in my full version of sound forge as a result - maybe once in a while - but, try using the chopper & chop to new track when the pop is gone.
