Hi everyone, I have been using Acid for a few years now, and am at the point where I want to record lyrics. I own a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop and ran the Shure SM 48 mic into the mic/line on the machine. For some reason, when I record lyrics into Acid, The lyrics are louder on the left, as if panned more to the left than to the right, and its colume is fairly low unless I click on 1+20db in the advanced part of recoring propertios. I have switched mics, tryed different volume/sound/properties/recording settings on my computer and it still does it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you. Danny |

Danny, Does your sound card have an input mixer? Seems like that might be your problem. On another note, vocals are generally mono, so why not just combine the channels if the take is actually good? |

Jessariah, Thanks for your response. Well, my sound card has three inputs, a mic input, a headphones/speaker output, and line in/out. How do I find out if it has an input mixer? And if it does, how do I change it to make the volumes correct? Secondly, If I record in Mono, it is only on the left channel that it comes in, and very lightly, not loud at all. I guess I could duplicate the track and just pan one to the right to adjust for this. But then there is the volume issue and how to make it louder. Thank you and I greatly appreciate all your input. Go to your control panel and choose the icon for your card (if it has onw). Otherwise, click on "Sounds and Audio Devices." There are various tabs within that window where you can select individual cards and check their mix/volume settings. |
