I'm fairly new to the realm of midi, so heres my questions:

Firstly, i have a keyboard with a midi in and out port, and a sound blaster audigy 2 platinum, also with midi in and outs on the front drive. i have the in of the keyboard hooked to the out of the computer, and the out to the in.

I hit record in Acid, and choose "midi" and then hit start, and begin banging away on the keys, nothing comes out. i mean i hear it, but no midi gets recorded. I hit stop and its blank.
Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Also, when writing your own midi in the piano roll editor, how do you change the instrument its using?

thanks a lot guys.

first off, check your Midi Options and make sure youve got your SB selected.

as far as changing instruments, youll have to insert an instrument. AP4 comes with a "basic" instrument where you can change all the sounds.

so just insert a midi track, click on little midi icon on the track and "insert" an instrument.

i guess i wasnt clear. lol my fault.

i can get the midi track to play back a piano sound. how do i change the sound it plays to strings, guitars, fx, etc?
staying on whatever midi synth i have selected, i want to change the voice. (maybe thats the right word?)

allow me to restate that again, lol.

after toying around with it some more, i found that you could add an event in the event list properties, saying what patch number to use, which would change the voice.

is there an easier way to do this?
i got the soft synth properties thinger open, where it lists all the voices... but double clicking those voices does nothing, so i dont know how to select which one is playing from there
