Subject:mp3s not supported in Acid when I install Sound Forge? Help!

When I try to open mp3 files in Acid Pro 4.0, I get an "Unsupported Format" error. My mp3s are created with MusicMatch, but it won't even work if the mp3 has been encoded using Sound Forge! When I uninstall Sound Forge 7, I have the power of mp3 again... I tried the Knowledge Base solution and the migration tools with no fix. I really don't want to uninstall Sound Forge (it cost me a fortune!), but I'l revert to 6 if I have to. In the midst of a new project, I don't have time for this. Please help me! The sooner the better! Thanks... Oh, I should also mention that Sound Forge still has full mp3 encoding AND decoding capabilities... AND I should mention that Batch Converter is also unable to open my mp3s, and then pulls them out of my scroll down file format menu entirely! (Have to uninstall AP4, BC, and SF7, clean the registry and re-install AGAIN, but none of these apps seem to work when SF7 is on my machine!!! Ugh!)... |

Interesting. In the " Wave Hammer GONE in Vegas 4 upon upgrade to SF7" thread, I've been recounting how, when I install Sound Forge 7, the MPEG encoder disappears from Vegas, though it is still available in SF7. I must stress that I am allowing SF7 to install in its own default folder, not forcing it anywhere else. Despite following the advise from the support team (to run every migration tool) I cannot VEGAS to "see" the MPEG plugin. I'm beginning to think there may be something seriously up with the SF7 install program/process. |

Yes, I agree... The default folder was what I used first to install to. I have uninstalled and re-installed several different ways and nothing. It's all SONY's fault... I had very few problems when Sonic Foundry was behind the wheel.... I also would like to mention that I have to run the Norton Reg Cleaner every time I uninstall Sound Forge or I get a "Message Missing" error. Why, God, Why??? All I want is my mp3 functionality back... :( |
