Subject:Acoustic Mirror - In a perfect world

Greetings:

With Acoustic Mirror, let's say you have an impulse named "5th Row Center XYZ Concert Hall" and you want your final piece to sound as close as literally possible to that specific 5th row concert hall position.

Hypothetically, assuming you have a good impulse file, would that 5th row position be created with 0% dry and 100% wet?

Let's start by saying you will not duplicate the exact x seat y row scenario period.

Ideally Acoustic Mirror like reverbs in general would be used in a bus where you would set the reverb to 100% wet then feed a portion of the signal from a/several track/s to that bus providing an x % dry and Y % wet ratio to send to another bus or main.

Unfortunately Vegas 4 can't handle this in real-time anymore to my dismay and in Sound Forge it's not a multi-track environment and you don't have busses so you will have to use the Dry and Wet faders in Acoustic Mirror to get the mix you want. Ignore the default 100% wet, -inf dry setting.

I wasn't aware that V4 didn't do that.

I probably didn't include enough context in the original message. I'm not expecting a perfect x seat, y row scenario. But what I would like is a reasonable approximation of the sound of one impulse's acoustic environment versus another. Obviously, there are multiple factors at work besides the reflections, such as the micing. And while I do adjust a normal reverb to taste via the wet/dry balance, I didn't know if Acoustic Mirror's impulse structure had a theoretically targetted balance for the wet/dry mix.

Yes.

100% wet will allow only the sound of the impulse convolution, whatever it may be. It sounds like this is what you want. Any dry that is mixed in will be just added in on top, and will alter the perspective.

In a perfect world, Acoustic Mirror would work in Sonar, in real time. I'm pleased that Wave Hammer does now, anyway.

V4 can still use Acoustic Mirror, but you must do it only when mixing.
To do it, change audio device away from ASIO...i think MS Sound mapper worked for me, but try anything but ASIO.
