I read here that I needed to install QuickTime 5 including authoring tools to convert WAV to Quicktime. I did this and can load or import WAVs into QT, but when I try to exporta as quicktime, sound forge says the file could not be created. I can play WAV files in QT, but When I try to export them as a QT file, QT says the file could not be found. I can land a project that will buy the kids Christmas presents if I can solve this. Any one know what's going on? |

Hmm. I can save WAV's as MOV's in Sound Forge 7.0 fine. If you installed the full set of tools for Quicktime, there shouldn't be a problem. What if you tried Quicktime's Updater? (It should be listed under Start>Programs>Quicktime.) Be sure to also have the latest version of Sound Forge. (Updates can be picked up here.) More recent versions of QuickTime seem to have more interdependence between components, so additionally installing only the authoring components does not seem to be sufficient . You must install all of the components (be sure to do a custom install and select everything). QuickTime 5.02 or later is required. If you already have QT installed, uninstall it first before reinstalling. |

I'm just guessing here so these may not apply to your situation. I read all the posts (and in Vegas Audio) -- I may not have understood all the problems so please correct my description if I don't understand. 1. Definitely do as Iacobus suggests and make sure you have the latest updates for Forge and Vegas. 2. In Vegas and Sound Forge you're having trouble importing wavs and exporting as Real. One possible cause: if it's real 8 you must have the real player closed. After you do that you'll need to close and restart our apps. 3. In Vegas and Sound Forge you're having trouble importing wavs and exporting as mov. One possible cause: there was some problem with QuickTime install. I'd close all Sony apps, uninstall QuickTime and re-install with everything -- authoring tools and everything else. 4. In QuickTime Pro 5.02 you can play wavs but cannot export to mov. Uninstall and reinstall QuickTime. Can you export to any other format? Say aiff or a new wav? I'd also suggest uninstall and reinstall of Sony apps but if you want to wait on that, write back with more info. What OS? What's the exact message? I hope this helps, Suzan |

Forgot to add, Tim, that if you need help with those WAV's, I'd be glad to help out—for free—until you get your end straightened out. (Your client doesn't have to know either.) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

What version of QT are you using? I've got a QT pro key for version 5 but I understand you need to buy a new one fro later versions. |

I uninstalled QT completely, then reinstalled it in custom mode selecting ALL options (got a message saying it couldn't install JAVA for some reason). Installed new version of Forge 7. Same old stuff. QTcan import and play WAVs but can't export one as a .MOV. Says it can't find the file. Forge (and Vegas) act like they're exporting, but at the end say "an erroro occurred while saving one or more files. Could not save file." This is an impeccably-maintained 1.75 Ghz machine running Win 2k with loads of RAM and disk space, on whinh I've done loads of work in forge and Vegas. Some one help please. This job is slipping thru my ifngers. WT |
