Is there a way to REMOVE the beatmapping info from a file? What I am doing is bringing live recorded band tracks into acid, in hopes of being able to synchronize loops to already-recorded-but-not-perfectly-in-tempo tracks. Seems like I can do this as explained elsewhere in these forums, but when I change the tempo, the one track which I foolishly beatmapped (thinking I could create a true "map" for the file, not just a startpoint and a tempo) gets all confused. No .sfl file was created for the file, so I assume the info has been written into the actual header. How do I delete it???? Thanks in advance!

I haven't answered my question, but I have a helpful tip for locking acid to a live performance. This is a refinement of a method mentioned elsewhere in this forum, and in a KB article.

Make sure your tempo is in the ballpark to start, and the song starts right on a downbeat. (once you understand this process, you'll see that's not strictly necessary....)

1.turn off snap (f8) and go through and tap H on every downbeat, or every four bars, or whatever, in time with the music. This creates a set of time markers. If your time is weak, tweak their positions. You can use ctrl-shift-right to loop between each time marker, and make sure they are correct. Then turn snap back on.
Starting at the beginning of the song:

2.set the cursor to the measure number that should line up with each time marker. (this is where being in the tempo ballpark will help...)
3. Right click the appropriate time marker, and select "adjust tempo to match marker to cursor". Wow! Pretty graphic stunt!
4. Press T to create a tempo marker at the cursor.
5. Loop steps 2-4 until the end of the song.

Seems to work great. Unfortunately, my beatmapped file (the drum overheads) is totally confused by the tempo changes!!!!

Hey, figured it out. Just wasn't able to find any terminology to search on. Stumbled into it, messing with adding a loop to my track. Wow, live drums locked to loops. Whooee.
