I've been using my friend's Sound Forge 6.0 program and have decided that I would like to buy a copy... I've found that Sound Forge Studio 6 is a lot cheaper. I tried to find out the differences between the two and read the comparison chart on the Sony web page, but I don't know what half of the stuff means... Can anyone help to better explain what the Studio version is missing and what that would mean to my music mixing/editing? |

The main draw back (in my opinion) of SF-6 Studio is the lack of Direct-X plug-in support for Sonic Foundry/Sony and many, many third party DX plug-ins for EQ, reverb, compressor/limiters, ect, ect, ect, ect. |

I used SF Studio 6 for quite a while before upgrading to SF6. I also downloaded the .PDF manual and took the trouble to print it out, so that I had it in hand to refer to. The manual serves for both Studio 6 and SF6. The parts that are only found in the full SF6 are marked with a red icon. You can download this manual for free, and have a look. Now that I've used SF6 for a while, the major difference for me is the ability to use Sound Forge Noise Reduction, which comes separate (at a cost!). SF Studio will not work with NR nor with the plugins which make it possible to fix the sound from old records and tapes. Try looking at the manual. |
