I want to record some vocals while listening to a track.
However, the instrumental track is recorded as well. How do you prevent this. Is it a soundcard question?

If the rest of mix is getting recorded with your take, ensure that only your selected hardware input is enabled and selected for recording, both under ACID's recording dialog and under your soundcard's software mixer.
