You can try halving the number of beats to double the tempo, and doubling the number of beats to halve the tempo, but those are just shortcut methods. (Access the track's properties and use the Stretch tab to access the number of beats.)

If you wanted the loop to be a specific BPM, you could open up the loop in an audio editor like Sound Forge and use its timestretch function to stretch the loop. However, as far as ACID's concerned, ACID will always take the overall project's tempo into account based upon how many beats the loop is.

As an example, let's say we have a loop that's exactly 16 beats long at 134 BPM. Let's also say the overall ACID project's tempo is also 134.

Say we open this loop up in Sound Forge and timestretch it to 100 BPM and save. When we add this loop back into ACID, it's going to just about sound the same as it did before (with some artifacting due to the digital stretching we've done).

Why? Because since the loop was defined as a total of 16 beats originally and in the newly timestretched version, ACID must accomodate the 16 beat, 100 BPM loop to its overall 134 BPM project tempo. A loop at 16 beats at 100 BPM obviously does not sound as fast as the same loop at 16 beats at 134 BPM.

Since the number of beats within a given time frame dictates exactly how fast a tempo should be, you would have to change the number of beats to change the tempo of an ACIDized loop. See a previous post of mine for more info. It may be very helpful to experiment here if the concept seems difficult.
