Subject:Version 7.0 doesn't work well with XP

I have installed the new Sound Forge 7.0. It's got some severe bugs. 1. It modifies the modem proprieties; 2. I cannot type my password to get my e-mail on my server's website; 3. It happens the same thing when I try to login so as to have internet access. As far as I know Windows XP is such a problem. That's why they have got the SP1 pack. That's true I have not yet installed that pack, but what I don't understand is why Sony has decided not to let Sound Forge to work along with other more stable systems such as Windows 98. Of course all this stuff began to happen as soon as Sony took over Sonic. Before, everything worked out very well with the previous version. Let me tell you all that I have uninstalled the software (everything became "normal" again), and decided to keep version 6.0 which I am sure it's much better. As far as I am concerned, no one needs pink colored graphics....Shame on you Sony. Correct the bugs and let Sound Forge works out along other platforms such as Windows 98 and Me. Shame on you.

"1. It modifies the modem proprieties; 2. I cannot type my password to get my e-mail on my server's website; 3. It happens the same thing when I try to login so as to have internet access. "

How did you come to the conclusion that Sound Forge had anything to do with this? Come on now.

"As far as I am concerned, no one needs pink colored graphics"

What are you talking about? Pink colored Graphics?....The UI Graphics between v6.0 and v7.0 haven't changed except for some Sony Branding labels where they use to read Sonic Foundry. If you're seeing pink, it's because you set up the UI that way in the preferences of Sound Forge, or you're system has been hacked and someone's altered your Windows color scheme, along with your modem settings. Reformat your hard drive and reload Windows XP and upgrade to SP1, because you've probably have been hacked. Shame on you.

Is that you Michael Moore?

What I'd like to know is on what criteria people are basing their remarks like 98SE is so much more stable than XP.

What benchmarks (OS benchmarks, not hardware) have you run to determine this? Sure XP is bloated, so is Panther, so is Redhat 9 ...
it doesn't make them less stable. The bloat comes from trying to include all of the multimedia crap that we ourselves generate.

Maybe we should just stick with VMS; why can't we get a port of Sound Forge 7 for VMS running on a DECAlpha 200? Can you answer that, Sony?????

"Is that you Michael Moore?"

LOL

Seriously, Cunhambebe, we can't help you unless you want us to. This is a user community. You're actually venting to your fellow users.

You said you haven't upgraded to SP1 yet. You should. SP1 contains many bug fixes. In addition, I'd suggest heading on over to Windows Update after you upgrade to SP1, because there are even more fixes available.

Thanks to all who took the time to respond. After reading your responses I actually found out a file iin my system named sysbrand.exe that was causing the bug in the internet explorer. It comes from another software. I deleted it and now everything works out very well. I apologize and hope someday Sony will make this extraordinary software available for other windows platforms.

See? It's always something stupid that causes it. Just one wrench in the machine is all it takes... :o)

Don't exactly hold your breath for "other Windows platforms". XP/2000 are, for the foreseeable future, the OS's of choice for DAW users. Many apps besides Sony's have already gone this route.
