. . guess who got notifacation of Boris Graffiti 3? Guess who bit? Guess who's gonna be visiting the Bank Manager on Monday? - Ho . . will somebody take me in hand?? - Honestly, I read and saw what Boris G3 can do and I thought I MUST HAVE this one too. . . I think I'm exhibiting all the classic signs of becoming video software dependant ! - Nobody told me about this drawback with Vegas!?!?!

But please, it looks so very professional - it should not be allowed! And at that price . . . . ..

To use that phrase from my hero Jim Cary - The Mask:

"Somebody Stop Me!"

. . Grazie . . .bread and water for the next 6 months I think . . . .

I'm in the same boat as well. Awful tempting. The thing that's holding me back is my recent purchase of Paint Shop Pro 8 and I still am amused by figuring out what I can do with vector text, text on a path, etc in that application.

I always joke with my salesperson at Full Compass that my wife wishes I had a cheaper and less addictive hobby like...smoking crack.

what the heck is it and how does it tie in w/ vegas?
Grazie wrote on 10/31/2003, 12:23 PM
miwi21 - I understand there are at least recovery prorammes for Crack users who wish to break that dependancy? Unlike us poor souls, we're doomed, DOOMED I say Doomed . . . ..

But yes, thanks for "sharing" It's good to know I aint alone . . . .

jcg wrote on 10/31/2003, 1:53 PM
I just looked at the pricing. They're giving a pretty deep discount to Vegas and Premiere users (from $595 down to $249).

Maybe someone should start a 12 step program for software junkies. I've got stuff that "I had to have" and still haven't opened the box.

Which one you going for Grazie? The full Boris Red or the one you linked to?

Is Graffitti included or built in with Red GL?
snicholshms wrote on 10/31/2003, 4:25 PM
It's my understanding that Boris Red is the Big Gorilla and includes all the features of all their other software....at least it sure looks like it when start palying around with it. Red also comes with some outstanding plug ins.
I had to take a deep breath when it came time to pay up for Red. But now that I'm using it...it was worth the price!
Grazie wrote on 10/31/2003, 4:31 PM
I started with VideoFactory . . . maybe one day I can afford and will get to get to Boris Red . . who knows?

Grazie
PAW wrote on 10/31/2003, 4:53 PM

Grafitti is part of RED and it does cost megga £££££

But....

Think about all the other stuff you buy on the way

ulead 3D Studio
Ulead 3d Production Studio
Xara 3D
Steadymove
Steadyhand
3D Impact
After Effects

and the rest will add up to the same if not more than RED and deliver less - RED plugs in to Veags, how cool is that..........

Vegas+RED is about as good as it gets

Grazie, don't just make the bank manager sit back in his chair and take a sharp breath - make him faint :)

Sounds like it's too late to stop you, Grazie.

I've downloaded the demo of RedGL and so far I've found it very hard to get started with - for a plug-in it certainly looks and behaves differently to Vegas.

My current thinking is that at that huge price - around A$2500 - it doesn't really deliver anything I'm missing, so I've been able to resist my usual impulsive "buy today, worry about it later" approach.

I'd be interested to hear which features Vegas users are liking best.

As per an e-mail answer I received from BorisFX, Red will do everything that Graffitti does...but much more.

Just bought SF 7.0 so I guess I'll have to continue using Grafitti 2 with Premiere 6.0. Oh well, it ain't difficult to add the clips to a Vegas project blah blah.

Marquat - Where've you been? I've been getting outta my pram with my MONSTA pc that is being built . . . go see my thread hereabouts . . . and YESssssss at long last "Grazie's Gonna Grow Up!" - Well, not toooooo much. Going to join the XP Pro Adults . .

Thanks for remembering my "hastles" with WinMisery . . in actual fact it really wasn't WinME nor solely my Dell. It was a sneeky little callout in the Power Managment menu. "ALWAYS ON" got me around that aprticual problem with Blue Screens on my PTT . . have been editing paid projects on the laptop. Recognise that really 250 of RAM working with a 1ghtzh PIII no longer gives me the Horse LPower to see the creative stuff I wanna do and see it in enough time before I die!!

Best regards,

Grazie - Be happy for me . . be very very happy . . I deserve it!

I've got it!

I pre-orders the Graffiti 3.0 that integrates with Vegas before it came out. I arrived last thursday. AT first the disk was not readable. I thought it was a bad disk since other disks continued to work in my computer...but then other disks began to fail as well...so I had a toasted drive.

My new Dell laptop arrived last night, I got Vegas installed by 11 and
Graffiti integrated in by 11:30 PM.. I played with it for about an hour...

The integration into vegas is..interesting...

It is workable but it is a detatched integration..

What I mean is that when you click the plug-in icon on an event, it brings up
the standard plug-in configuration window (where you would normally setup the settings for the plugin) but there is only a single button there that says "launch graffit".
You then do all of your work basically a different full featured application that is not integrated into the Vegas windows.. But it is still a useful integration in that you don't then have to render out of the Graffiti application and import the render as a separate step. The seprate application nature of the work is only apparent when you are doing the plug-in settings.

In any case, it seems pretty reasonable and powerful. I'll write more after I have used it for a few days.

Just a thought as well.

Satish the great one is working on a version of Wax that will plugin to Vegas, the beta should be ready soon.

I think there may be additonal 3D capabilities in this that will add to the text generators capabilities.

Satish refrred to it as a poor mans RED although going by his other work it I would expect it to be pretty god.

My kind of diet. Reminds of Julia Child. Years ago I sometimes watched her cooking show which ran for years and years in multiple versions on public television out of WGBH in Boston. She started on TV around age 50 way back in the 60's. She only took $50 a show for herself. She did make a ton of money from her many books on cooking.

Julia (according to her) got interested in French cooking mainly because of her husband's love of rich French food. She is a one of the more famous students of the Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris.

Now I'm hungry...

Are you a student? A teacher? Know somebody who is a student or teacher? No? Come on! EVERYBODY knows a student or a teacher. Boris products can be purchased at substantial educational discounts. For example:

Boris G3 ==> $199.95
Boris Red ==> $499.95

Checkout www.academicsuperstore.com (there are other sites like this as well). Perfectly legit - you just have to meet the eligibility requirements (not a student? don't know a teacher? don't have any friends who are students? don't have any friends who are teachers?)

btw - they also sell Canopus products and Vegas + DVDA ($259.95).

Check it out...
