Subject:SF 7.0a 100% Reproduceable BUG

Hi there .. the main function that I need (which works perfectly in 6.0) does not work for me in SF 7.0a. Here are the details .. Typically I work with a lot of voice over recording / editing. I'll get the actor to say the same phrase SEVERAL times in one take. For example, my .wav file may say "Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi" but I only need the best take. So I open the file, then use the command [process/Auto Trim/Crop] with these (typical) settings ::: [preset : remove silence between phrases (creates regions)] Fade in 60 ; Fade out 60 ; minimum inter-phrase silence 0.8 Once I execute this command, I have a file with nicely cropped regions. Next, I use the command [tools/Extract Regions] and up pops my dialog box with my list of regions (in this case, 01 - 05) but now when I go to execute THIS command, SF 7.0a has problems extracting (only) the very first region - I get the error message "could not create the file" - ALL THE OTHER REGIONS GET EXTRACTED PROPERLY. The work-around to this bug is to take the first region marker and move / wiggle it a little bit - THEN the first file extracts properly. Thid is a 100% reproducable bug (on several machines, with various hardware combinations). Or, I just continue to use SF 6.0 - which works properly. I usually post these comments / bugs to my "internal contact" at Sony / Sonic Foundry but he mentioned that posting this in the forum would be best in this case. I'm a "pro user" from a respected software developer. Cheers, Steb |

Yeah, that repros pretty consistently. I've added this to our bug database and we'll try to make sure it gets fixed for the next update. Thanks, Steve |

Can anyone repro this possible bug? Make a selection in a file. Go to Effects>Pitch>Bend on the menu bar. Reset the envelope, set the range of semitones to +24 and drag the right envelope point down all the way. Choose a fade type other than slow or linear fade and apply. They seem kinda funky. The smooth fade, for example, seems to slow down OK but then speeds back up a bit even though the point was dragged down all the way. The slow or linear fades seem to work fine though. Yes, I reproduce this. Preview sounds fine, but something is going bad in processing. We'll make sure this is fixed, as well. J. |
