Just downloaded 7.0a and tried to install it. It basically asked to "Repair" or "Uninstall" SF7. I "repaired" and got SF7 build 214, not 7.0a build 262. ...try again... |

If you try uninstalling and reinstalling the new version you still get build 214! And no vinyl restoration in the DX plugins so I guess it's just not working.... Sad! |

have you tried deleting the folder "sony setup" before installing ? |

We've never seen this here. It just sounds like you re-ran the original 7.0 installer--when running the 7.0a installer over a 7.0 install, you should be prompted to update, with a Yes or No option, not a Repair option. Did you save the 7.0a installer to a different location, or did you choose No to All, when asked to overwrite the files in the current location? HTH, Joel |

Installed to same folder as 7.0, chose "yes" to overwrite all files, then got a screen which offered only "repair" or "uninstall". Tried both still running build 214. The only thing I did do was rename the file to be downloaded to "sound forge 7 build 262" to distinguish it from the 7.0 exe file I already had in the folder. Looking at the properties of the 2 downloaded files in the folder they look absolutely identical. Could it be that the link on the update page is pointing to the original download? |

The 7.0 installer is 33.5 MB, and the 7.0a installer is 34.7 MB. If you're seeing both as the same size, then there was likely a problem when you downloaded the new one. I just tried downloading the 7.0a installer from our site and the correct version is up there. Thanks, Steve |

Thanks thats helpful. However I've just downloaded the file again from your update download page and it's 33.5MB so I'm clearly not getting the right file. The one I've downloaded is called "soundforge70.exe". Can you let me know the name of the correct file and the URL where you find it. I may be looking in the wrong place. Thanks. |

I'm really sorry to hear about the problem you're experiencing. Try going to ftp://download.sonypictures.com/current/ Then look at the size of the file named soundforge70.exe. Do you see the 34.7 MB version? |

Thanks for helping me. This is very interesting - I use an Internet Explorer "wrapper" called MyIE2 for my default browser. From this wherever I go for the update - including the ftp site you mention - I only "see" a 33.5MB file. The old one. Using a "straight" version of IE6 I always "see" the 34.7MB version where it ought to be, including the download update page I've had the problems with. I don't understand this at all - never had this issue with any other website/download! But I've now got the updated version so I'm happy. Once again I'm grateful to you for the trouble you've taken to help me. John. |

np. I'm guessing that you've already checked this, but just in case, check your myie2 cache settings. There are some pointers on setting your cache to clear on myie2 exit here. |

Well what do you know!! Always made sure this was dealt with but the latest MyIE2 seems to have "lost" the setting when I installed it! Thanks very much for the heads up. I'll watch that in future. John. |
