Subject:Hearing sound "ghosts" in Acid on each track

Acid 4.0 is working great for me, except that one specific project I've done has started to sound terrible (no jokes about the lack of talent, please!). There are all sorts of extraneous noises playing that shouldn't be there. If I mute all tracks except one, I can still hear ghosts of the muted audio, or "dragging" sounds where percussion might normally be. I've even tried re-loading each loop one at a time, but no effect. something's corrupt.

Any ideas, without cmopletely re-writing the whole song?

This happened to me a few months ago and it freaked me out. I went through basically what u have just done until I realised I changed the tempo or bpm by mistake. R U sure u havn't changed your speed by accident???

You may be experiencing audio artifacts as a result of extreme tempo stretching as piotrk mentioned.

Are these custom or "canned" loops?

These are "canned" loops, from a loops CD.

Let me check on the tempo thing. I'm not aware of any hanges Ive made--and certainly not drastic ones--but I'll investigate.

Okay, hate to say it, but the tempo is still correct. No changes.

The problem continues. Even when I "solo" a single track, I can still hear artifacts of other sounds stuttering behind it. And when the song actually ends, the stuttering ghosts continue for the remaining measures of "silence."

Any other hints for me?

Very bizarre. And this is the only project that's doing it? Is this a project created in an earlier version of ACID? What FX (if any) are inserted? What if you muted them?

I haven't put in ANY effects yet, and it was entirely made in Acid 4.0, no changes. And it's just in one specific song, not in all the others.

Here's an example:

Keep in mind that despite the limitations of my talent, I'd at least like to get the audio problem corrected. You'll notice the stuttering and "whisper" effects that become more and more obvious as it plays.

Akicita,

This almost sounds like the loops vs. one-shot issue. Since I'm a novice ACID user, I don't know why it occurs. But, I made a bunch of drum loops once - they were single hits. The ones that I saved as one-shots worked fine. The ones I saved as loops sounded like your mp3. I resaved them as one-shots and they all worked fine.

If anyone knows why this happens, I would be interested to hear why. BTW, I also use some commercial drum loops and have to convert them all to one-shots before using in ACID 4 Pro in order to not get this effect on playback.

Thanks,
Greg

Ooo, I like.

Indeed, it sounds like ACIDization is being applied to the track(s). See a recent post of mine for more info.
