Fun with Paint Shop Pro and Vegas

Ok, so many of you probably already know and maybe do this, but I thought it was fun...

Paint Shop Pro allows for script/macro creation and batch processing so I exported an image sequence from Vegas and batch processed using a macro in Paint Shop Pro and then brought the sequence back into Vegas. Thus, I was able to do some fun effects to the video such as adding brush strokes and applying artistic looks to the video.

The rendering wasn't quick (~2 frames/sec applying halftone using a 2.4 Ghz P4) but I could start it up and leave it to render.

Have others tried this? Is their a faster, better, cheaper way that others apply these type of effects that are not currently available within Vegas?

Thanks,
M L Iserman

I did something similar using a macro in Photoshop, with the filters for Find Edges and Cutout (trying to get an animated look). It didnt look that cartoonish, but still was cool. My takeaway was that I need to learn frameserving and wait until there's a good Vegas rotoscoping plug-in.

Thanks for the tip. I upgraded to PSP8 but hadn't found anything particularly useful -- guess I'll have to look into the scripting.

Do you have an example posted anywhere? You can upload one here:

Chienworks

and then post the link to that file back here in this forum.

Where is the script that allows Vegas to output image sequences? I haven't been able to find it.

John, you might want to check your link. I think you pasted the wrong URL. ;)
