After a few days, I am a bit confused between Acid 4.0 and ScreenBlast Acid 4.0 !%$^&$. Just begining Acid 4........ i ve brought in various loops and tried applying different fx.......... but nothing new happens in playback. They effects do not seem to be chaninging anything. I went out an bought ScreenBlast hoping it would do better in modifing loops. Can Acid 4 do everything (and more) than SceenBlast........... or do use Screenblast in addition to Acid 4 ? You can tell, I am new to audio.........

I guess so. just kidding! ;o)

Screenblast ACID is considered the little brother of ACID Pro 4.0. ACID Pro 4.0 does everything Screenblast does (save for the ability to render to Flash and saving to Sony's handheld devices) and then some.

How are you applying the FX? There are two ways—at the track level and assigned via the Mixer.

If you're inserting assignable FX in the Mixer, you have to then send the desired track to the FX by clicking the multipurpose fader for the respective track and selecting FX 1: -Inf.. You'd then turn up the slider to mix the track with the FX. (There's more, but we'll take it in baby steps if you'd like.)

heres the thing...i have never used screen blast acid. im sure its pretty much just a stripped down version of acid pro. i know in acid pro you can modify and or "morph" loops as much as your lil heart can desire!! (with effects or creatively) in screen blast, i have no idea...it says you can use effects...not sure why you are having a problem!?!?!? when you CHOOSE the effevt you want to insert on a loop, you still NEED TO right click on the track and insert the effect envelope!!! (did you do that?)
good luck

Thank you very much. Inserting the envelope was the solution. Now, back to the manuel......... Hopefully, there are tutorials around to get started.....
Thanks,
Larry

mD.......... tell me more......... I missed your post on the last reply....... but this sounds great. I ve only inserted assigned fx in Mixer and am now getting results. I am curious about mixing effects with Pad and Piano loops, for example and getting a harmonious sequences for video (or animation) soundtrack. Just figuring out how to best "blend" the instrumental loops together. Comming from video and learning about musical composition will be a challenge.............
But this is interesting...........

In addition to what marc mentioned about inserting envelopes (which actually would activate the FX to -6.0 dB automatically), you can right-click the label button and choose either Pre Volume to set the source to be before the volume fader or Post Volume to set it after (which is the default).

Track volume, track volume envelopes, track panning, and track panning envelopes are all settings applied before going to the bus in Post Volume mode. Experiment and check it out.
