I've been reading up on the many posts recommending the Layla but have a question. The computer I've been using has no available PCI slots (only 3 to begin with). Currently I have a Soundblaster Live, RAID controller, and Firewire card. I've been using Vegas for video editing for over 3 years and have this system operating flawlessly. Can I simply rip out the Sounblaster and replace it with the PCI card for the Layla or will I still need my Soundblaster for anything. Thanks. |

The only reason to keep your Sound Blaster would be for it's SoundFonts or gaming features. I keep mine around so that I can run the Layla's wave drivers in PureWave mode instead of WDM (PW doesn't do DirectSound). The Layla will of course work well with games in WDM mode, but it doesn't have EAX. |
