If your file is the "mixdown" or render, then no, you can't bring it into Acid and separate it. You would have to open the native file in the multitrack app it originated from and save/render each individual track as a separate wave (some apps let you do this in one step -- in others, you'll have to solo/render each track independently). Once you've rendered each track, you can "bring" them into Acid. I've never done this before, so there may be a beatmapping issue if the waves are long. HTH |

ummmm.....not sure if im understanding completely correctly, (but i think i am, cuz i do the same thing) i am a club dj and every single cd or vinyl i get i archive in my computer.....so let me give ya an example of what I DO, and hopefully its what youre getting at. EX... i just got "N-sync's" NEW CD (OBVIOUSLY JUST AN EXAMPLE :-) i want to back the whole thing up on my hard drive as an mp3. what I DO is possibly 2 different things.... 1. i have CD architect (another sofo. program...GREAT one at that, get it if you dont have it) you can individually track right in that program. in other words....rip the whole cd into that program....one BIG wave file will appear, and then you can go back and drop track markers where ever you want, then save the whole thing. when and if you burn a cd from that program, it will automatically burn with your track settings. 2. in acid you would have to do each track individually, and when you click save, you will have an option to save each track as an individual file. do it that way. hopefully that helps...if im way off with what you are trying to do, sorry. it seems as if that is what you are trying to do. good luck. --marc |

This one is easy enough. Just load the mp3 into ACID and it'll appear as one long track. Duplicate that track as many times as you need for each cut on the cd. 18 songs, 18 dups of that track. Use the split function to split it up (obviously) and then lay it across however many tracks it is. Okay, that isn't at all clear... Basically, just open the track 18 times or whatever and cut out each song, on a different track, so now you have a cascade of 18 songs across 18 tracks. Then just render each track to a separate file, and you're done. Remember, you only need 2 split points for each track, one at the beginning of the song you're isolating, and one at the end. Then, just hit delete on the leading and trailing edges and you're ready to render. Also, ever think of just, well, re-ripping the CD's in track by track mode? Probably a whole world of speed quicker. |

Marc is right, CD Architect would be an easy way to do it. If you don't have it, though, you can still do it in Acid. Import the whole file as a track in Acid, set a loop region on the area you want to export as 1 song, and choose file\render, making sure the 'export loop region only' box is checked. Then move the loop region to the next track you want and repeat. |
