I have the latest VV4, Acid Pro 4 and Sound Forge 7. I have installed the first 2 applications and registered them along with their respective MPEG and MP3 modules and they work without any problems. The moment I install Sound Forge 7, I lose the abuility to save in either of the aformentioned formats with an error message stating that they have expired. Is this a known issue? The new support area is a joke compared to Sonic Foundry's old site to find anything even remotely like this issue. HELP!. |

errmmm...its a relatively new issue. there may be a better fix, but what worked for me is unsintalling every sofo (or sony) app, clean your registry of all keys having to do with those apps, and then reinstall, ENDING with sony sound forge 7. |

The Migration Tools should have worked when you installed Sound Forge, but depending on what you registered and purchased when, you may have to run them again. Close all apps and run Programs> Sony> Utilities> Migration tools > Copy Sony Plug-In Licenses from Installed Sonic Foundry Plug-Ins and also > Copy Sonic Foundry Plug-In Licenses from Installed Sony Plug-Ins (I don't think you need this but it does no harm). These tools are in the start menu. Hope this helps, Suzan |

Did that - Here is what I get for each application after installing Sound Forge 7as the last app installed and running the migration Utilities: Acid 4 Pro - MP3 option: "Encode Limit reached - upgrade application for unlimited MP3 encoding" VV4 - MPEG 1 or 2 Option: "Support for the selected file format has expired for this application." All products are the latest versions available from SONY's website. I find this very discouraging as I am now losing valuable time on a project I am working on. Since I can't render to either format - I now have to stop all work. Already did the complete uninstall and sanitize of the registry 3 times now with no resolution to this problem. I have a support request in to SONY, but they take 24 - 48 hours to respond. Maybe I need to look elsewhere in the future for my editing needs... :-/ |

When you installed Sound Forge 7, did you change the default install folder? You *will* run into many problems if you force it to install under C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry. You should always let it install to a separate C:\Program Files\Sony folder instead (it's OK to change the drive letter if you are installing your applications on a different drive). This is because the shared file format plug-ins (MPEG, MP3) are designed to be used only by applications fully converted to their Sony locations for the Windows Registry and install folders (Sound Forge 7.0 is the first ). They may not work properly with legacy Sonic Foundry applications. |

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm - free high quality file converter. Render in wav, convert to whatever your heart desires without participating in a silly codec scheme. (The codecs for dbpoweramp's converter are free) |

I have tried every install combination I can think of and still I get the same results... :-( I have had to uninstall all applications, sanitize the registry and reinstall VV4 and Acid Pro 4 only - this after 4 complete attempts to get this issue resolved. It appears to be a known issue with SONY's tech support people and they aren't sure why it is popping up. |

Does this article from our knowledgebase address the problem you are having? If not, let the support representative that you are working with know, and also post a follow-up to your problem here. Thanks. |

Issue was finally resolved - thanks to the tech supprt document, I have a better understanding as to what I was doing incorrectly. It amounted to SONY's latest version not being compatable with Sonic Foundry's shared Plugins (different approach to programming them) |
