Subject:Screenblast Acid or Acid Pro

Hello everybody,

I'm wondering whether Screenblast Acid will serve my needs -

I basically just want to make backround soundtracks. Maybe a few sfx/solos too. Don't expect to be doing much 'composition', so wondering if Pro would be overkill?

Can Screenblast Acid utilize add-on loops? Can it save WAV files?

Sorry for the (pre) newbie questions.

Cheers,

xog

I don't believe you can record in Screenblast Acid. Also, by "saving waves" do you mena rendering your composition to wave? If so, the answer is "yes."

I would download the demo (aka Acid Express) and play with it. You're limited as to what and how you can render things, but it will give you an idea of how it works.

If all you're doing is assembling loops, then Scrrenblast should be fine. I did a lot of work in Acid Music (same thing), and it served its purpose. The two things you won't get, however, are the ability to use DX plugins and alter the stretching properties. If Screenblast 4 is on par with Music 3, the included "FX" are junk.

So it basically comes down to 2 things: how much control do you want over the loops within Acid and is it worth the $130 diffference?

Screenblast ACID (hereon called, "SA") may serve your needs, but note there are features in ACID Pro you may find handy in the future, like Pro's ability to use envelopes on tracks/busses. (An easy way to create fade-ins and fade-outs on a selection of tracks if you desired).

Add-on loops? If you're asking about SA's ability to work with ACIDized loops, the answer is yes. If I also remember correctly, SA can render out to WAV.

Thanks for the input. Will go with Pro for the price differential.
