Subject:Acid 4.0e - Input Monitor not working?

Hey all,

I'm using Acid 4.0e with the Digidesign Asio 6.1.1 driver (Digi001). I'm running WinXP SP1, DirectX 9.0b on an Asus A7V266e/1.4 GHz Athlon T-Bird with 768 MB DDR Ram. My problem is this - whenever I attempt to record an audio source through the Digi001 I can't monitor the audio input either in standby or record. The Monitor option is checked under the meters in the record dialogue and there is normal level appearing on the meters but no audio. Acid will record and playback my blind noodlings fine but won't let me monitor. Does anyone have insight to share?

Thanks,
LH

ACID does not support audio input monitoring. When you enable monitoring on the record dialog, you are enabling the meters.

Adding to what Peter said, any input monitoring should be done by the hardware. You should be able to send another set of outputs to something like a mixer and listen there (provided your audio interface passes the input signal along to the outputs).

Example: I have my GNX2 guitar effects processor's S/PDIF out going into my Audiophile 2496's S/PDIF in. I have the Audiophile's software mixer sending both the input and the output via the mixer (as opposed to going direct) so that I can send both signals to my hardware mixer's analog ins; the S/PDIF input merely gets passed along to the analog outs.

I can then monitor what's going into the S/PDIF in while only recording that input, all while listening to the whole shebang.

HTH,
Iacobus
