Subject:sound card question...

i'm new to this and i only have a cheap sound card,any suggestions as to what sound card i need to do a half decent recording without breaking the bank( i'm running XP).....when i do recording now my system seems to "gag" during playback...is this a soundcard issue.

It just might be the cause. Look into anything from M-Audio or Echo. The Audiophile 2496 from M-Audio can be had for about $149 street, while the MiaMIDI from Echo goes for about $199. Shop around.
