I am using a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card and every time I try to play a file using the surround mapping, acid crashed with this message: Sonic Foundry ACID Pro 4.0 Version 4.0e (Build 408) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) READ:0xFFFFFFFF IP:0xF937A5 In Module 'SFDSOUND.DLL' at Address 0xF90000 + 0x37A5 Thread: GUI ID=0xFFF25C41 Stack=0xC4E000-0xC50000 Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=0177 EIP=00f937a5 EFLGS=00210202 EBX=00ac4170 SS=017f ESP=00c4e824 EBP=00000003 ECX=00b1d6ac DS=017f ESI=00ac4148 FS=658f EDX=0000000a ES=017f EDI=00000307 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 00F937A5: 8B 08 50 FF 51 48 8B F8 ..P.QH.. 00F937AD: 85 FF 0F 8C 8E 00 00 00 ........ TO BE HONEST...USUALLY WHEN YOU GET AN ERROR WITH ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH "REGISTERS" IT USUALLY TENDS TO BE RELATED TO A POOR INSTALL. I WOULD TRY TO UNINSTALL ACID AND RE-INSTAL IT. (not the case all the time, but a lot of the time that is the case) |

As marc said, you might want to try to uninstall and then reinstall ACID to see if that helps. Be sure you have the latest drivers for the Sound Blaster too. (Did this suddenly happen? Or has it been ongoing?) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

I have the updated drivers from creative's website. My friend gave me his computer and it had Acid installed on it already and I just put my Live 5.1 card in it, so I can't really re-install it right now. thanks for any help. |

OK, I actualy discovered I was running WIN98, bot WIN98SE, so I thought that would be the problem. Well, I put my Sound blaster Live 5.1 in my frineds Computer, which is ME, and it still crashed. The message is bassically the same, but a little different: Sonic Foundry ACID Pro 4.0 Version 4.0e (Build 408) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) READ:0xFFFFFFFF IP:0x3BA37A5 In Module 'SFDSOUND.DLL' at Address 0x3BA0000 + 0x37A5 Thread: GUI ID=0xFFF7C2DB Stack=0xC4E000-0xC50000 Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=017f EIP=03ba37a5 EFLGS=00250202 EBX=00b0ef9c SS=0187 ESP=00c4ebac EBP=00000003 ECX=04882aec DS=0187 ESI=00b0ef74 FS=1bc7 EDX=0000000a ES=0187 EDI=00000307 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 03BA37A5: 8B 08 50 FF 51 48 8B F8 ..P.QH.. 03BA37AD: 85 FF 0F 8C 8E 00 00 00 ........ A "kernel32.dll" crash could be caused by anything that triggered it. Try checking out this KB article for more info. As an aside, do not share your copy of ACID, as doing so is illegal. If your friend is using a newer version of ACID and gave you an older version, be sure to have your friend contact Sony so that your friend may transfer the license to you legally. I remembered seeing something similar to this before, and searched the forums on SFDSOUND.DLL. This is what popped up, does this sound like it could be your problem too? http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=1&MessageID=214603 |

Well, the thing is I want to be able to use the Direct Sound Mapping, so disabling it wouldn't do any good. I can use the program fine, just can't use the Direct Sound Mapping for some reason. I want to be able to play my files in 5.1 as I am making them, nt have to create an AC3 everytime I want to preview it. |
