Subject:Beatmapped tracks click(!) on playback

Hello.... I am starting to use Acid 4.0. But, when I record any beatmapped tracks (specifically guitar, vocals) by punching in mid-project, I get this super-annoying loud skrrrtch-pop sound upon playback *only* at the very start of the media file. This does *not* happen when I punch in any loops, or when I record beatmapped tracks that last for the duration of the entire project. Only happens when I record bits and pieces of beatmapped tracks. This is very strange since I've used Acid 3.0 before, punched in with no problem. Things I've tried: a. Doesn't pop/click when I solo the problematic track. b. Doesn't pop/click when it's just the problematic track and one loop or two playing with it. c. the pop/click loudness is uniform regardless of the volume of the track. d. I've tried increasing the DMA buffer size, doesn't seem to affect anything. e. I've tried setting preferences so that Acid updates more slowly to prevent clicks. Another idiosyncracy of the problem is that the pop is more likely to happen when the playback cursor is set way ahead of the beginning of the problematic track. My configuration is P4 2.4GHz, 512 ram, two 40 gig harddrives. I keep media files separate from the application files (on different harddrives). Soundcard is M-Audio Delta audiophile. My workaround right now is just to record any beatmapped tracks for the entirety of the project, but i'd really like to be able to punch in. Any help/advice is appreciated! thanks! |

I'm taking it only happens when you playback the project, not when you render out to something like WAV? I have an Audiophile as well, but that doesn't happen to me. Do you have the latest supported drivers available at M-Audio's site? (Make sure you use the uninstaller that comes with the drivers prior to installing new drivers if this is the case.) Also ensure that the Audiophile has an IRQ all by itself; though operating systems like Windows XP are more adept in having devices share resources, the Audiophile still might not like the idea of doing so. You may have to do some BIOS finagling. Which driver model are you using, ASIO or WDM (Windows Classic)? HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
