The REX file format can be used in programs like Reason, am I right? If so, that's probably the way to do it (via Reason as a soft synth in ACID or ACID as ReWire host).

yes, "rex" files are a reason format file. ALTHOUGH...whats extremely good about them and why i would like to DIRECTLY be able to import them into acid, is that you can bring them into "RECYCLE" (another propellerhead program) and actually resample a sample!! (in other words, totally chop the sample up and resample it...a simple kick hat...could be changed to kick kick hat kick kick...etc...etc...any way you wanna resample it) Also, rex files tend to stretch MUCH MORE accurately than wav files do. even at extrememe stretching they hold their integrity much better than wav and mp3 files do.
i do slave the samples with acid sometimes...but sometimes that is too time consuming and more work than i would like to do. it would be MUCH easier to have acid just recognize the rex file format....ESPECIALLY now that it is becoming such a standard out there!
