Subject:.wav files appear blank when adding to project!

I know there is probably a simple reason its doing it, but I'm new to Acid and I can't figure it out. When I drag a wav file from the bottom screen into the project, it does not show any sound waves, but if I preview it, it plays fine. what am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help. I have tried a few different files including mp3s.

Once you load a file into a track, you have to "paint" the track to show where (when, actually) you want the sound to appear. Click on the track where (when) you want the sound to start and drag the mouse to the right. The waveform will appear.

If you haven't already downloaded the manual for Acid off this site, you should.
Spending some time reading it will make your experience much more enjoyable/much less frustrating.

Has anyone ever seen when you DO paint the tracks where you want them...and the waveforms still don't show up?

On my buddy's system, he'll sequence his tracks, you'll see a blank phrases of each track...but no waveforms. What's odd is that it plays back perfectly!!

(kinda like when you go into another program...and the waveforms disappear and say -media offline-....except it doesn't say that, he can't see the waveforms, but they play just fine!)

Is there an option somewhere to turn back on (that maybe accidently got turned off) to actually show the waveforms?

Thanks,
moose

Try Options / Preferences / General / Draw contents of events.

If the project plays back just fine but you don't see anything like waveforms, it might be a video issue.

Focus on the track view (ALT+0 (that's a zero) is the shortcut) and then press F5 to refresh the track view.

Try updating video drivers if this works; they might not be optimized.
