Subject:MP3 encoding with SF6

Hi,
Whenever I create an MP3 from a WAV, the resulting MP3 has a little silent space at the beginning and the end, so it's not the same length as the original WAV. I tried NOT saving the Metadata or ID tag with the MP3, but it still has these extra silent spaces. Is there anyway around this? Or maybe another MP3 encoder that will not do this?
Thanks!

This question has been asked quite a bit on the forums. This is a drawback of the mp3 format. If your goal is to create a loop, then you should use WAV as the format.

Hi Ted,
I did a quick search through past messages but couldn't find anything on this issue. I'll look again.
My goal is to create an MP3 from a WAV that does not have this silence ;-)
So I guess you're saying this is not possible with ANY encoders out there, that you know of.

Thanks!

The bit of silence at the beginning and end of an MP3 file is inherent to the format. There is no way to get rid of it no matter what app you're encoding with.

If you're concerned about file size, try Sony's Perfect Clarity Audio format (PCA). It's lossless but compressed. However, only Sony's own apps can read the format (like ACID Pro and Sound Forge).
