just thougth some of you would like to see this...i saw it in another forum on fx plug-ins: (obviously, some of you high-end users will already know this)

to add in a delay with perfect sync to your project:

take 60,000 and divide it by the tempo of your song

ex.: your makin a song at 130 bpm, you have a sample you might wanna echo out or delay out, in sync with your tempo....
60,000 / 130 bpm = 461.5 (set your delay at 461.5) and its a perfect fx calculation and sounds pretty damn good.
just thought some of you would like to know that.

acidfanatic.com had a nifty little desktop utility that will calculate delay times for you.

there is a freeware program called Wizcalc, made by Wizoo. it calculates delay values for bpm's, and lots more. i couldn't find the program on their site, but a little Google search brought me here :

I've covered this before too. The formula, for you scientific types:

60,000 / (BPM) x (note value) = (delay in ms)

So, for example, if you wanted a delay to fall on 8th notes in a tempo of 120 BPM:

60,000 / 120 x .5 (because 8th notes are typically assigned half a beat) = 250 ms

If you wanted the delay to fall on dotted 8th notes:

60,000 / 120 x .75 (because a dotted 8th represents 3/4 or three-quarters of a beat) = 375 ms

AUTOMATIC CALCULATORS ARE FOR SISSIES! (just kidding!)

haha! :)

well, to be honest i rarely use it, cuz i can almost always set up the delay by feel. but if i really wanted to be precise i'm happy there is a program that can do the boring work for me! ;)

i will program a thingy in excel that'll let you enter bpm times and it gives out the correct delay times for 4/4 and triplet feels as well as hz values, to sync your flangers or lfos n stuff ... if anyone is interested ill let you know when im done with it

p.s. i wrote this in another thread: calculate your delay times then adjust the settings and save the delay preset like this "simple delay 145 bpm 4/4" "simple delay 140 bpm 4/4" and so on...that way you can quickly get to the correct delay settings as you can choose them from the presets...pretty smart, hm? ;) of course this also works for flangers n stuff if you wanna sync them to tha beat ...
