I use the M-Audio 24/96 which Ras referred to with absolutely no problems. Haven't tried the others, but I understand the Echo products are pretty solid as well.

In the various music forums I visit there are two manufacturers which come up again and again with users having problems: M-Audio and Soundblaster.

I haven't had any problems with M-Audio's offerings. (I have both the Audiophile 2496 and the USB Duo.) M-Audio's stuff doesn't play well with motherboard's using the Via chipset (or so I've heard.)

I just went from an echo mia to a motu 2408mk3, and am very happy. If you are looking for a basic card the echo mia does a nice job, And if you are looking to record more tracks, and work with digital gear etc, I would highly recoment the 2408mk3.

By the way there is a very noticable difference in the sound of the mia and the 2408 (the 2408 being better).

Some have complained about the motu card and pc, but I have had very good luck with my ecs k7s5a board.

A LOT OF THINGS don't play well with VIA chipsets. I do the PC buying at my job and we try our hardest to insure that we DON'T get MBs with VIAs.
