doing a long form project in vegas (6 hour audio project) ... source is 24 mono wav files and it is being encoded to 2ch ac3 , normal settings for DVD .. rendering for the first 46% of the project -- goes real fast (source files btw are all on hard drive) -- then the whole render just bogs down to sloooow speed .. in fact at this point the render remain time keep increasing when before (after a point) it was decreasing .. there is NOTHING different in the source files at this point (just normal mixing and crossfades - no effects applied) , VV is havign to resample the source files though (some are 44.1) - though that is never an issue before .. when it gets to about the 60% mark it starts decreasing time left at this point .. still slow but progressing .. possable bug in ac3 engine ? or just a weird thing .. ? |

Did you have any silent sections? During my last render I noticed that silent sections took twice as long to render as sections that contained audio. During my last fishing trip we caught and released a sail fish. The sail fish was an outstanding jumper. When I encoded the mpeg2 I made a 3 minute slow motion section of just the jumps without any audio. The AC3 encoding was flying along unitl it came to the silent section. Once at the silent section it took twics as long. Once out of the silent section it picked back up to flying along. Go figure? |

hmm - maybe not silent, but some very low level sections -- but they were repeating throughout ... (it was a loop) .... it was almost as if some buffer somewhere filled up.. i encoded the same piece in 1other software ac3 encoder (sonic) and in the dolby hardware encoder -- all went fine ... |
