I am novice working with acid, and I want to record into acid with my mpc2000xl, when I go to the menu to enable the midi port and choose a device, there is no device listed. How do I get acid to recognize the mpc. My pc recognizes the mpc |

Do you want to record the sounds that the MPC actually produces, or do you want to just record the MIDI for later routing to the device? If the former, you'll want to record digital audio rather than MIDI, which is a different monster altogether. You'll have to connect the MPC's appropriate output (like the 1/4" outs) to the appropriate input on your soundcard/audio interface. If the latter, ensure that MIDI input is enabled in the MIDI tab under Options>Preferences. You should then be able to record MIDI data by selecting the same input (under "record device") specified under the MIDI tab.
