Subject:Novice question regarding pitch shift/static

Greetings- please forgive my ignorance, as I am new to the ACID software. For reference, I'm using version 3.0g, build 365. Anyway, I'm finding that there's noticeable "static/distortion" when pitch-shifting some sounds as few as negative four or five semitones. It gets worse the further you go. Now, I would assume that this is because of what the action is actually *doing* to the sound- but is there any way to clean it up? I like to cut up loops and create my own melodies, but as you might imagine, I have to deal with clicks, static, and other things that result. Is there any guide for doing so, by chance? Because finding the exact sound at a certain pitch that you're seeking on a lone loops CD is typically impossible. Once again, please forgive my ignorance- if the answer is simple, please just point me in the direction of an FAQ, or the manual. Though I honestly hope the answer isn't "you're screwed"- I had expected the client to be very versatile. Thank you very much, everyone. I appreciate it. |

Oddly, I'm noticing that the problem wasn't there before I added two additional tracks to the project. I started out with two tracks of the same chopped loop- one for stereo left, and the other for stereo right. I'm looking back at an early .ogg rendering, and with the exception of some "clicks," the static isn't there. I've tried putting these first two tracks on an additional bus, among other things. But nothing's worked. I also thought it might have had someone to do with distortion- but none of my levels are in the red. Could it be my headphones? I've tried it with two different pairs, and they both have this problem. It's not as noticeable with my actual speakers, but that doesn't matter- if anyone else is to hear this, I don't want it to be a mess for headphone users. Thanks again. |

Does anyone have any ideas? Is there something that I can add? What guidelines do you usually follow when chopping a complex loop? Ever experienced this strange "distortion"? |

It could be your soundcard/audio interface. What are you using for hardware? How fast is your system? What's your bit-depth and sample rate? (e.g. 24-bit/96 kHz) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
