Subject:SF7 I cannot install the software

I just purchased SF7 and downloaded it.

When I click on the soundforge70.exe file I get an error message:

unable to write to the temp directory in...etc ,check that you have write access to this directory.

I started disk clean up, completed the clean up and tried again...same error message
I am logged in as Administrator with full priviledges and I really don't know what in the heck is going wrong.

I changed the environment variable for TEMP and placed it in c:/windows/temp/

it did not help.

HHHHEEEEEEELLLLLP !

Disk cleanup always shows 0kb for my temp folders, even when they are loaded with junk and never deletes anything from them.

Try deleting all temp folders manually: c:\docsandsettings\username\localsettings\temp and c:\windows\temp. It could be that there is an old file marked read-only and the new install needs to write a file with that name.

Now My system is very slow...it takes it a while before displaying the content of the MyComputer folder..

Any hint ?

Shouldn't be related to the temp folders.

Windows enumerates all the devices in the registry when you open my computer - any recent hardware changes?

If not, one other thing that may or may not apply to you is shared drives. If you have a drive mapped to another computer that is not currently running, it can take a few seconds for it to timeout and realize it can't remap the drive at the moment. Once it opens though, each subsequent open should be quick. If you can think of any recent changes you've made, I might be able to offer better suggestions.

Alright I see,

I just changed a small thing, I deactivated one USB connector on my P4S8X motherboard and moved the devices that were connected to it to another plug soldered to the board. I added the ASUS spdif i:o adapter and plugged it . Then I closed everything and problems started on the first boot when the computer eventually started windows XP. Upon openning a session, after a few minutes I managed to click on the "my computer" thing and...it got stuck there searching with the famous lamp...the content finally showed up after a few minutes of grinding inside...I did several things removed the USB devices, defragmented the disk, reinstalled the devices, the only problem I was having repeatedly was a problem with a small USB cam which driver is not recognized...since then I desperately try to bring the machine back to full function.
