hello all, i figured acid can't be used for playing live, as it can only apply fx to pre-recorded tracks. does s.foundry have another host that can apply fx in real-time when playing live. that is, can software/hardware synths and percussion be played and processed real-time in a vst/dx host on a laptop, so the output isn't "pure" but processed. thanks |

Not that I know of. Sony's line of apps are mainly classified as production tools, not live tools. (Though some are using it for that purpose.) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

PLaying Live, I think theres a thing called chainer that loads vst instruments and effects and you can play them, its not a sequencer it just loads them and allows you to output them. If you want a sequencer to record what you play and hear the effects as your playing thers a few to choose from. FL Studio Cubase Sonar (I think) Ian F |

I've never used it myself, but there was a lot of buzz about Ableton Live being good for playing live. Here's a review of an earlier version of it I've got Chainer, which I use with a midi router to play/record from my scoring program. It's in need of an update, but it uses far less CPU than a lot of the hosts out there. I also use Tobybear's Channel Grabber 2 to record channels separately in Chainer while playing them simultaneously. In addition to running as a standalone host, Chainer can run as a VSTi or VST effect, which theoretically means you can get VSTis into VST effects-only hosts, and vice-versa. |
