Subject:Acid Echo plug ins...Need HELP!

This is the only other problem I'm having with Acid that I'm hoping someone can help with. All I wanna do is put a simple echo or delay on a sound part that matches the tempo of the track, and give me the ability to change the duration of the note count -i.e. quarter note -1/8th note & so on. The Simple delay pull down or the more Advanced Delay pulldown plug in are nightmares. Unlike the simply laid out one on Logic. or you would find on a Pioneer effects box or 600 mixer... Am I missing something,,, please help because it is hampering me badly.....Thanks alot

You will have to calculate the delay manually:

60,000 / (BPM) x (note value) = (delay in ms)

So, for example, if you wanted a delay to fall on 8th notes in a tempo of 120 BPM:

60,000 / 120 x .5 (because 8th notes are typically assigned half a beat) = 250 ms

If you wanted the delay to fall on dotted 8th notes in the same tempo:

60,000 / 120 x .75 (because a dotted 8th represents 3/4 or three-quarters of a beat) = 375 ms

In addition, since the Simple Delay plug-in is automatable, you could easily change the delay time by inserting an automation envelope for the delay time.

There are a couple of ways of doing so, but one way is to insert a Simple Delay as an Assignable FX, open it up and then make the delay time automatable via the FX Automation button.

You'd then route the track to the FX, open up the bus track view (U is the keyboard shortcut) and under the Assignable FX track, add an envelope point where you want the change to occur and then set the desired delay time from there. (Right-click between segments and choose "Hold" if you want the change between points to be sudden.)

At acidfanatic.com there is a utility delay calculator. It comes in handy.
